Junior Lawyer (Natural Resources) - Qld Government

This role undertakes a range of straightforward legal matters under the supervision and guidance of more senior lawyers. In-house Legal provides legal services within the Business and Corporate Partnership model to four agencies – Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy, Department of Agriculture and Forestry, Department of Innovation and Tourism Industry Development and Department of Environment and Science.
Performing, under close supervision, a range of legal work within In-house Legal including file management and Court appearance work in small and straightforward matters.
Undertaking legal research and preparing advice and documents for review by senior lawyers in large or complex matters.
Providing support in prosecutions, appeals and other litigation. This includes attending Court, client meetings and conferences - for example, with Counsel or expert witnesses, to support the lawyer with carriage of the matter.
Collating and preparing briefs to Counsel, briefs of evidence, disclosure material and appeal record books, including redaction of sensitive information.
Drafting simple correspondence and handling simple contact with clients, Courts and external legal service providers.
Assisting lawyers with document management tasks, for example, preparing bundles of documents for Court in large or complex matters.
Assisting with complex or large Right to Information requests.
Other Duties As Directed And Required.

- Bachelor of Laws Degree
- Travel away from Brisbane may be required. This may involve travel outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation.
