Bushfire Emergency Hotline Inbound Call Operator

Your new company

Our client is a State Government Department and in response to the recent bushfire disasters that have been devastating our state, we require 15 x State Emergency Hotline call centre operators to manage inbound enquiries commencing on Monday 20th January until required.

Your new role
As an Emergency Hotline Operator you will be responsible for assisting those individuals in fire affected areas with personal and hardship assistance payments on behalf of the Government Department.

In order for an individual to be eligible for government payments, they must meet strict criteria, so you will be required to assess each customer's situation to see if they meet the requirements.

Other daily duties will include:
• Issuing our recovery payments for individuals who have lost their homes
• Qualifying individuals for compensation in relation to - loss of power, amenities, contaminated water, no road access to their properties
• General enquiries on what to do if impacted by the fires

What you'll need to succeed
These positions will quite challenging due to the nature of the conversations you will be having. Some callers will be experiencing great devastation during this time so it is essential you can show extreme compassion whilst remaining resilient and having the ability to say no to individuals if they don't qualify.

Strong customer service experience is necessary to be successful and the ability to pick up systems and hit the ground running.

What you'll get in return
This is a temporary role for an unknown amount of time at this stage, potentially up to 3 months. You will be working within a professional environment located in Latrobe Valley and be given on the job training upon commencement later this week.

The Emergency Hotline will be open 7 days a week between 9am-5pm so the ability to work a rotating roster will be favourable.
