The Opportunity:

The Corporation of the City of Port Augusta, alongside Maxima, currently have an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team as a Building Surveyor trainee. This full-time position will see you working across 2-years to gain a nationally accredited Certificate IV in Project Management.

This entry level position will provide paid, hands-on experience and an opportunity to grow your skills and knowledge to have a lasting career within project management withing building and Planning area of the Local Government Industry. With continuous mentoring and paid study, you will be supported the whole way.

As a building surveyor trainee, you will assist the Building and Compliance team to ensure that all processes involved with the start to end process of building compliance is undertaken.

Duties:
  • Processing, assessment and approval of building applications
  • Respond to customer enquiries both written and verbally
  • Conduct on-site inspections and continual monitoring of buildings
  • Ensure all infrastructure meet relevant industry standards and safety codes
  • Assist in the investigation of legislation breaches and take action where required

Requirements:
  • Must hold a provisional or full driver’s licence and own vehicle
  • Must satisfactorily pass a pre-employment assessment
  • Strong computer knowledge
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills
