Period of employment / Hours:

Fixed term full-time day work (part-time hours may be considered by negotiation) commencing ASAP for a period of approximately 18 months.

Location:

DCT - Capability & Resources - Hobart

Duties:

Primary Purpose / Focus :

  • Provide strategic leadership, direction and control for a whole of Agency response or recovery from an emergency event/s in Tasmania.
  • Provide high level leadership, authoritative and strategic and independent advice with a whole of agency perspective to internal and external stakeholders in an emergency response and recovery event.
  • Represent Communities Tasmania and act as Delegate for the Secretary in a range of forums including the State Control Centre, State Emergency Management Committee and other inter-agency working groups or intergovernmental committees.

Selection criteria includes:

It is expected that the occupant will demonstrate the values of the Department and meet the broad leadership capabilities as defined in the Senior Executive Leadership Capability Framework: Shapes strategic thinking; Achieve results; Cultivates productive working relationships; Exemplifies person drive and integrity; and Communicates with influence. Further selection criteria are:
  • Extensive experience in and demonstrated high level knowledge of all aspects of contemporary resource management and experience in emergency management in a complex environment, together with an understanding of the political, social, cultural and organisational environment that the Agency operates in.
  • High level knowledge and comprehensive understanding of contemporary leadership, management and change management practices, with proven extensive experience leading a multi-disciplinary response and recovery teams in a diverse environment
  • Demonstrated high level strategic, conceptual and analytical skills with the demonstrated ability to identify relevant issues, make sound judgements and provide innovative, practical solutions and outcomes.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Demonstrated understanding and awareness of the Tasmanian Government’s Emergency Management Procedures and governance structure.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience.

    • b) sex related offences
    • c) serious drug offences

    • e) serious traffic offences (If Driver's License is an Essential Requirement )
