Primary objective
The Governance Officer is a senior position within the governance team. The role is responsible for the provision of
high-quality services to support implementation of corporate governance frameworks and business planning and
reporting activities for the Department of the Chief Minister and Cabinet, the Office of the Chief Minister, the Office
of the Leader of the Opposition, the Department of Treasury and Finance and the Office of the Commissioner for
Public Employment.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide advice on and coordinate the review and implementation of corporate governance frameworks.
2. Assist to coordinate the development of the agencies’ planning frameworks.
3. Provide advice on and coordinate corporate reporting, including the development of tools and guidance to assist
divisions and business units.
4. Coordinate the review and update of Human Resource, Financial, Procurement and Information delegations.
5. Support development of corporate governance policies and procedures, including development of
communications to educate divisions and business units in respect of required ways of working.
6. Provide secretariat services to governance committees.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. High-level of understanding of corporate governance, organisational and business planning and performance
reporting, including monitoring and evaluation tools and methodologies.
2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to prepare a range of correspondence for
diverse audiences.
3. Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects with changing
priorities and coordinate a range of activities to meet critical timelines.
4. Demonstrated high level of conceptual, analytical, research and presentation skills.
5. Demonstrated experience building and maintaining networks with key stakeholders and influencing and driving
improved business practices.
6. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
7. Ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualification in business, public administration or related discipline.
