Fixed Term Contract Three Years, Full-time

The Governance Services Team is looking for a talented and enthusiastic governance professional to fill the position of Governance Coordinator. The position is primarily responsible for the development of policies, delegations and authorisations and providing organisational governance advice. In addition, the position is responsible for coordinating a small team in the delivery of organisational governance requirements across the City of Mandurah.

Working as part of a specialised and dynamic governance team you will be responsible for:

  • Provide expert advice, support and organisation wide training in relation to governance and statutory requirements to ensure that the City’s governance activities are carried out efficiently, effectively and in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Undertake research, develop policy and prepare reports and liaise with key stakeholders on governance and policy matters.
  • Support the Manager Governance, Procurement and Land in the day-to-day operation of Governance Services including compliance and risk.

Some qualifications and skills that are essential include the following:

  • A Bachelor of Laws degree.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a similar role in local, State or Federal government.
  • Extensive experience in statutory and legislative compliance and interpretation.
  • Extensive experience in the provision of legal or governance advice and policy development within a public sector environment.
  • An extensive working knowledge of the Local Government Act 1995, associated regulations and other relevant legislation.
  • Highly developed skills in the analysis, development and formulation of reports, policies, procedures and correspondence and other documentation as required.

This position is Fixed Term Contract for three years and will be offered as a Part-time or Full-time arrangement with flexibility offered to the right individual. The Level 9 position attracts a pro-rata salary range of $109,098 - $116,345 gross per annum dependent on qualifications and experience.
