We are looking for an experienced and highly capable Emergency Services Officer (ESO) to join the site Emergency Management team. The ESO is responsible for leading Emergency Response teams and providing a professional approach to emergency services, both pro-actively and re-actively based on prevention, preparedness, response and recovery.
Actively promoting the Karara Health and Safety systems by engaging with employees, contractors and providing specialist advice to the management team.
This position operates on an 8 days on / 6 days off / 7 nights on / 7 days off continuous rotation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend all emergencies and provide the appropriate response to preserve life, property and reputation.
- Assist in managing Karara sites emergency preparedness.
- Actively conduct and participate in post incident debriefings.
- Drive and foster Volunteer Emergency Response Team membership and training using realistic scenarios and available response equipment across site.
- Undertake thorough clinical assessments of patients to identify illness or injury, initiate appropriate treatment methods including but not limited to the administration of medications to promote recovery and wellness within the scope of training, site policies and medical treatment guidelines.
- Submit patient care records (to a high standard) for all presentations.
- Operate response vehicles and rescue equipment to an extremely high standard.
- Conduct onsite Fitness for Work (FFW) Testing including Drug & Alcohol screening.
- Conduct workplace audits, inspections, and scheduled equipment checks and maintenance.
- Undertake the functions of access control and site security during night shift to ensure the safety and integrity of operations on the site.
- Support the operation of accommodation facilities out of hours in responding to calls for assistance from residents including but limited to, room lock outs or relocations, village rule enforcement, evacuation systems testing and opening and closing amenities as required.
- Assist the incumbent fire services technician in undertaking system testing and inspections.
Essential Experience & Qualifications:
- Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue
- HLTSS00027 Occupational First Aid Skill
- PUAEME005A Provide Pain Management
- Ability to Collect Pathology Specimens other than Blood
- National Police Clearance
- Western Australian Medium Rigid Drivers Licence
- Demonstrated leadership and training of Emergency Response teams
- Up to date knowledge of rescue techniques, equipment and medical practices
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other applicable software programs
