About the role:

The Senior Governance Officer is primarily responsible Senior Governance Officer who will provide a high-level support to the Governance Services team and key stakeholders, the successful candidate will be reporting to the General Manager, Governance Services. 

Please note this role can be based remotely in Sydney, Canberra or Melbourne.

Your contributions to our team will include but are not limited to:

  • Provide a range of high-level support services to identified governance bodies and committees, including management of papers, agenda and minutes.
  • Undertake a range of high-level administration services including planning and delivery of meetings and forums. This will include co-ordination of travel, accommodation and related meeting logistics.
  • Supports and advises the Administration and Elected Members on governance matters as required.
  • Compile required governance reports.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Effectively develop and maintain a calendar of meetings and related activities for the relevant governance entities.
  • Provide advice on sensitive internal audit functions including the application of relevant statutory requirements, Government policy and best practice.
  • Coordinate, track and analyse business area level business plans, and quarterly reports against those plans, submitted to Governance Services.
  • Undertake and participate in a range of governance projects as directed by the General Manager.
  • Undertake other duties as may be directed/required from time to time. 

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  1. Demonstrated experience in governance services and/or providing high level support in a company secretariat function.
  2. Demonstrated high level administration support including organisation and time management skills to organise own work, to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  3. High level of communication skills including highly developed written and oral communication skills. 
  4. Display high level ability to review and analyse complex situations, procedures and systems and to recommend changes where appropriate.
  5. A high level of motivation with the ability to multi-task and produce accurate work to set timelines with minimal supervision.
  6. A sound level of these attributes would be an advantage:
  • Finance administration, risk and compliance processes.
  • Microsoft product suite including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Project management.
