Job Description

We are seeking an experienced State Manager to join the team in our Perth office on a permanent basis.

The State Manager - Board and Governance Services is the face of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (ACID) and is responsible for driving client engagement and revenue through effective business and relationship development. This position applies expert knowledge of governance and governance principles to the diagnosis, development of exceptional solutions and engagement growth across business, Government and Not-for-Profit boards and organisations.

In this challenging role, you will need to be an exceptional communicator and strong role model, engaging with our Western Australia based members and clients and the Western Australia Division Council.

Reporting to the Head of National Board and Governance Services, Members and Clients, the responsibilities of this role also include:

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as the primary AICD representative and most senior representative point of contact for clients within Western Australia.
  • Developing and implementing the strategic and operational business development plan to drive growth and increase the AICD’s presence in the Business, Government and Not For Profit community within Western Australia.
  • Elevating the profile of AICD in Western Australia.
  • Continually identifying, developing and implementing ways to improve the client experience and build brand loyalty.
  • Planning, controlling and executing Board and Governance Services operational budgets where applicable.
  • Cultivating positive interactions and trusted long-term relationships with clients and developing a strong local network that drives the Board and Governance Services strategy and delivers results.
  • Effectively diagnosing governance-related issues at the Board and C-Suite level and presenting tailored solutions to meet the needs of clients.
  • Managing specific Board and Governance Services projects that promote client growth and retention.
This is a unique opportunity for exceptional relationship builders with a strong interest and/or knowledge in governance. You will have strong commercial management expertise, complemented by extensive business development and account management experience.

Requirements

Desired Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing/Business or similar.
  • Extensive experience in a similar business development position leading others and driving engagement targets in a professional B2B, sales and marketing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of governance and governance principles including the ability to provide effective diagnosis and solutions on Board and C-Suite level governance issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence effectively with internal and external stakeholders including executives and directors.
  • Extensive experience in a fast-paced, high profile business development, sales and account management environment.
  • Exceptional networking, stakeholder management and relationship management skills.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to deliver multiple projects concurrently.
  • Strong interest in governance required.
  • Demonstrated experience with research, analytics and reporting.
  • Ability to manage complex situations effectively and positively.
  • Advanced MS Office, CRM skills with the added ability to use and navigate common business systems.
