Our large NSW State Government client drives integration and efficiency across long term planning, precincts, housing, property, infrastructure, open space, environment, natural resources including land, water, mining, energy and growing our industries. They are currently seeking an experienced Tax Officer to join their team in Orange. This is an estimated 4-6week temp assignment

Working within the Corporate Services business unit, you will be responsible for delivering a wide range of financial administrative support functions to the team in the preparation and lodgement of all tax and treasury returns such as Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), Goods and Services Tax (GST), Payroll Tax Returns and remittance of Pay as you Go (PAYG), Treasury recoups and payment returns for the Department

In this rewarding role, you will be undertaking the following duties:

  • Deliver professional customer service
  • Answering enquiries, providing timely and accurate responses
  • Contribute to the preparation and review of tax calculations
  • Maintenance of tax balances in the general ledger
  • Track and monitor data collection and consolidation of documentation relating to all noted returns
  • Prepare, reconcile and lodge all Cluster and Departmental returns including FBT, GST, Payroll Tax and PAYG Returns
  • Compile and complete BAS returns
  • Assist with reconciliation and remittance of crown revenue to NSW Treasury, recouping of expenses from NSW Treasury, balancing of Superannuation and long service leave liabilities
  • Records and database management, ensuring high integrity, accuracy and confidentiality
  • Source, gather and collate information to assist in informed decision making outcomes
  • Work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with statutory obligations

To be successful in this great assignment you will have the following:

  • Demonstrated experience in Australian tax and statutory return requirements
  • Public Sector experience highly advantageous
  • Impeccable communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Intermediate excel skills and strong proficiency with SAP systems
  • Solid conflict resolution, negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Superior organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise conflicting deadlines
  • Switched on, takes initiative and high attention to detail
  • Willingness to undergo a National Police check
  • Ability to commence and commit to the duration of the assignment
