This globally recognised, market leading Defence technology and engineering giant currently requires the skills of a confident 

Business Controller / Project Accountant

 with senior professional experience and demonstrated knowledge of regulations / legislation with government contracting organisations.

With a dotted reporting line to the Australian MD, the Business Controller / Project Accountant will function as the key Australian stakeholder within the global financial operations group and assume responsibility for a range of capabilities including:


  • Managing project financial reports for monthly project reviews
  • Provide financial analysis to project managers to improve financial performance, contract margin and cash flow metrics
  • Coordinate internal and external audit process to ensure financial practices meet industry standards
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations relating to cost accounting standards
  • Prepare monthly cash receipts and working capitalisation position
  • Support cost estimates for bids and proposals and ensure that all the appropriate financial risks are addressed
  • Provide financial input into quarterly strategic business plans

The Business Controller / Project Accountant will ideally bring to the table:


  • 5-10+ years of post-graduate experience working as a Qualified Accountant within complex professional organisations
  • Understanding of Commonwealth contracting regulations / legislation (experience within Defence industry highly regarded)
  • The ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with senior executive management and external third party stakeholders
  • Extensive knowledge of budgets and financial statements
  • Strong understanding of financial analysis, risk assessment and process improvement
  • An autonomous, balanced and pragmatic approach to problem solving

Given the sensitive nature of the customer and project portfolio, the Business Controller / Project Accountant will be required to

gain and maintain an Australian security clearance

(i.e. Australian citizenship is a minimum requirement).
