About Department

The Emergency Department consists of 2 resuscitation bays, 16 cubicles, 5 fast track chairs and 15 Emergency short stay beds. In addition to this, there is a behavioural assessment room, procedure and a plaster room. A triage assessment chair and a 3-chair diagnostic lounge supports patient flow into the department.

The Emergency Department has a multidisciplinary team providing patient care with Mental Health clinicians, drug and alcohol consultation and an Assessment and Liaison Early Referral team, supporting care co- ordination for the Emergency patients.

About the Role

The Grade 2 Registered Nurse, under the guidance of the Nurse Unit Manager or Associate Nurse Unit Manager, will be responsible for the delivery of expert clinical care in his/her specific area. The Grade 2 Registered Nurse will be responsible for ensuring his/her own professional development in order to maintain clinical skills and knowledge.

Classifications for this position will range from YP3 - YP11 ($65,275 - $87,282 per annum).


  • Manage the physical and emotional well-being of the patient
  • Administer medication in accordance with hospital procedures, protocols and policies
  • Assist with medical and diagnostic procedures carried out in the unit
  • Document, observe and report relevant nursing findings within the framework of nursing progress
  • Liaise with patient, patient's family, medical and ancillary staff as required or requested

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Degree in general nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Current Nursing Registration with AHPRA
  • Experience as a Registered Nurse for 2 or more years
  • Previous nursing experience in an Emergency Department is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to operate within a "patient centered care" framework
