How will I help?
Reporting to the Executive Manager you will play a pivotal role in providing risk oversight and support of the Operations Team which administers the Wealth platforms (Asgard, Wrap, Panorama) within the wealth management area of Westpac. This will include operational risk oversight, control assurance, compliance advice, risk / compliance framework guidance and challenge , and practical solutions to the business in operating within risk appetite. That means being a pro-active risk and compliance adviser to the business, knowing key aspects of our risk and compliance framework, ensuring active review and challenging to ensure governance over risk appetite.

You will also keep track of any new compliance regulations, engage in projects as a risk and compliance advisor, and be a risk and compliance culture champion, embodying our ethics and integrity, balancing commercial and customer needs. You need to have sound technical knowledge of risk management practices. You will know how to assess the control environment and provide risk mitigation strategies that reduce the residual risk of key business lines.

What do I need?
Experience and some proven expertise. For example, you will need 3 to 5 years of experience managing operational risk and compliance frameworks either working for a Big 4 Consulting firm, or within a domestic or International Financial Institution. You will have extensive exposure to the Financial Services industry, with a strong knowledge of wealth product development, marketing, distribution operations, and the nature of their specific risks and compliance obligations. You will also be a ‘people person’ with an ability to engage with stakeholders and build trusting partnerships.
