About the role

As the Risk Insights & Governance Advisor, you will support the Insurance Claims and Operations and Insurance Product and Portfolio Risk teams to uplift and ensure consistency of Risk Management practices across the Insurance business. You will provide the Risk Business teams with the required tools and processes to enable delivery of risk activities that strengthen the Risk capability and culture of Insurance.

More specifically you will

  • Operationalise risk frameworks and ensuring consistent application across the Business Partner Teams.
  • Management of overall Risk governance
  • Uplift knowledge and capability (both within the Risk teams and the business) to support with the adherence of the Risk and compliance standards.
  • Drive an agile process and co-ordination of the Group Risk Maturity Survey.
  • Design and deliver on proactive solutions to meet Risk Maturity targets.
  • Facilitate annual review of Group Frameworks and Standards including recommendations to ensure fit for purpose for the Insurance business.
  • Drive and /or contribute insights, papers and recommendations for Insurance Risk reports.
  • Pro-actively engage with the Business Risk teams to identify any gaps or challenges current risk and compliance practices are creating within their allocated business area.
  • Lead and manage agreed POW goals that support the overall Risk teams’ objectives.
  • Keep the Insurance business informed by managing change activities and communications for risk activities.
  • Lead and act as SMEs to group risk activities and deliverables e.g. ROCSA, IRIIS system changes, and updates to standards.
  • Advocate for the development of new process, technologies and tools to support effective risk management. Facilitate and drive centralised cyclical activities for Insurance Risk e.g. Annual DOA.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Critical thinking – Use data to find answers and make meaningful recommendations to support the business.
  • Data Visualisation / Presentation skills – Be able to tell a story with data visualisations and reporting presentations.
  • Insights – Excellent ability to identify business insight, issues, trends and determine cause-effect relationships to provide potential solutions and courses of action based on the information base. Information - Ability to draw out key points & metrics for the reader to focus on and discuss the information with objectivity, foresight & transparency to ensure users clearly understand the issues.
  • Analysis – Excellent ability to undertake both quantitative and qualitative analysis and draw conclusions and highlight risks. Ability to analyse historical information and uncover trends and causes to enable emerging risks to be highlighted and inform decision making.
  • Communication - Excellent ability to convey and explain information, coherently and confidently both verbally and in writing with minimal supervision.
  • Change Management - Understand and manage the impact of change and develop strategies to support agility and responsiveness to move forward.
  • Stakeholder Management – Excellent influencing and relationship management skills across internal stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail - Accurately process and check tasks and show concern for all aspects of role.
