A Federal Government agency is seeking a skilled and experienced Policy Writer/Technical Writer to work for the information and technology division, based in Melbourne, CBD. You will liaise with subject matter experts to develop policy, procedures, and guidelines to be interpreted by multiple stakeholders. You will secure a contract that is initially 12 months with the view to further extend for 12 months, and a rewarding hourly rate.The successful Policy Writer/Technical Writer will be responsible for, but not limited to;

Using subject matter expertise to develop policy, procedures and guidelines in line with the Information Technology business unit services;
Ensuring procedures refer to and adhere to applicable industry regulations, standards, and compliance requirements;
Reviewing, editing and analysing existing Information Technology procedures for validation or update;
Engaging with stakeholders in Information Technology and other Business Units to obtain input and feedback on drafts;
Engaging with the Project Policy Officer in the Governance Team to ensure that procedures follow the appropriate organisational style and tone.
Ensure that procedures are appropriately written so that staff can understand and follow them easily.

The successful Policy Writer/Technical writer will need the below:

Minimum 2 years professional experience working for a government agency, university or large corporation to deliver policy related documentation;
Highly developed technical policy/procedure writing and editing skills;
Strong consultation and communication skills with excellent written ability.
An understanding of research key legislation, policies, and procedures across enterprise business environments;
Proven competence self-managing priorities and producing quality outcomes while remaining highly motivated.
Ability to build strong working relationships with and professionally represent the department with a variety of stakeholders.
The ability to develop high quality written material is critical.
