About the role

The Director of Emergency Medicine leads and manages the Emergency Medicine team enabling high quality, contemporary services integrated within the Clinical Services division of West Moreton Hospital and Health Service.

Liaison and coordination with other clinical departments is critical as is ongoing service development and teaching so as to provide for a sustainable service.

This is a 0.5 FTE role temporary for up to 12 months

About You

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:


  • Experience in leading and managing an Emergency Medicine service.
  • Commitment to the principles of quality in health care including leading initiatives relating to quality improvement, research, risk management, service evaluation and strategic service delivery planning.
  • Consideration of whole of Hospital and Health Service vision and values when making decisions and leading the Emergency Medicine service.


  • Extensive clinical experience with appropriate knowledge and skills extending across the range of Emergency Medicine, with an ability to deliver quality specialist care to patients in a clinical setting including directing the process of assessment, admission, ongoing care, transfer and discharge of patients.
  • Contribute to the establishment and fostering of relationships between the hospital and relevant community groups in order to provide information about the hospital and to ensure the continuum of care for the patient.
  • Commitment to leading the performance, development and education program of clinicians at an undergraduate and postgraduate level. 


  • Applies sound business management skills in order to plan and control the financial function of the service and manage within the allocated budget.
  • Enables collaboration and enhances connectively in the provision of emergency medicine within a multi-disciplinary team by demonstrating effective communication and promoting understanding, respect and trusts between different groups and professions.
  • Commitment to own development and continuous self-improvement, and sees learning opportunities in everyday work.
