Your new company
Our client, a large Federal Government Department responsible for providing vital services to Australians, requires an experienced APS5 Policy/Ministerial Officer to provide high level support for a number of upcoming projects

Your new role
In your new role you will be required to assist the department on a day to day basis with duties that include but are not limited to assisting with the development of the policy, daily duties will include:

  • Stakeholder engagement: Build and maintain productive and professional relationships within the Communications portfolio, across government and with industry, the research sector and representative community groups.
  • Strategic policy: Improve capability to analyse markets and to persuasively communicate practical strategic policy advice and authoritative information. Establish a strong and independent research capability focused on economic analysis of information and communication technologies.
  • Research, writing and analysis experience
  • Prepare documentation and replies to ministerial correspondence.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on policy, operational and administrative matters, particularly to inform ministerial replies.
  • Monitor, analyse and report on trends in correspondence received.
  • Assist in the management of correspondence volume and timeliness of ministerial replies.
  • Under general direction, perform research and analysis tasks and prepare research reports to assist in policy development.
  • Assist in the preparation of parliamentary and meeting briefs and talking points.
  • Have accountability for completion of allocated tasks and organising workflow.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful for this role you will have previous experience in a similar role as well as great communication skills both written and verbal and the ability to work in an high pressure environments. A successful candidate will have experience in policy development, along with strong communication and organisation skills, including an ability to prioritise and work well under pressure.

You must be an Australian citizen and possess or be willing to go through the process to obtain and maintain a NV1 Personnel Security Clearance.
