The Launceston General Hospital in northern Tasmania is seeking an experienced Nurse Unit Manager to join and lead its Emergency Department.

The role:

Are you an experienced nurse with leadership and nursing management skills with an interest in Acute Medicine?

You will –

  • Report to the Nursing Director - Critical and Acute Inpatient Services
  • Be a member of the Acute Care Services Leadership team
  • Provide high level strategic leadership and direction, ensuring quality clinical outcomes and that resources are efficiently utilised, and services are effectively integrated within the Hospital
  • Show Initiative, being adaptable and able to respond and adjust easily to change
  • Be resilient, persevering to achieve your goals in the face of obstacles and remaining calm and in control under pressure

The Department: The Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is the major referral hospital in Northern Tasmania. Its Emergency Department (ED) is a fast-paced and energetic environment providing an exceptional standard of care to patients through a 42-cubicle space ED consisting of Fast Track, Emergency Medical Unit, Acute and Subacute Areas.

The nursing team consists of Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Consultants, Clinical Nurse Educators and a broad range of Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses. In 2020, LGH ED was the first in the state to introduce the Specialised Enrolled Nurse position adding another career pathway for nursing.

The broader ED team includes 14 FACEMS, 18 Registrars and 20 Junior Medical Officers, supported by an Allied Health Team including Pharmacists, a Hospital Aged care Liaison Team and dedicated Support Officers and ancillary staff.

Details of Appointment

Permanent Full Time, Day-Worker position working 76 hours per fortnight.

Salary: $113 484 – $118 938 per annum + 9.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging
