JOB DESCRIPTION

The Legislative Assembly is seeking a Parliamentary Officer to work for a fixed term in the Table Section of the Procedure Office. The position involves a variety of tasks including customer service, administration and some research/project work.

About the role

We are offering an exciting fixed-term opportunity as Parliamentary Officer (Table Section) in the Procedure Office until 1 October 2021. The Procedure Office provides support to the Chamber and senior officers within the Department and is the principal office responsible for answering inquiries from the Department's customers. Your key responsibilities will be preparing the Votes and Proceedings, preparing bills for Royal Assent, processing documents for tabling and drafting motions and readers required for the House. You will also undertake small procedural research tasks and projects within the Procedure Office and assist with customer service.

About you

To succeed in the role, you will have excellent attention to detail, with the ability to produce documents with a high degree of accuracy within tight deadlines. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to work as a team member in a high-pressure environment. You will have a proven ability to organise and prioritise work and show initiative and an understanding of the principles of the Westminster style system of parliamentary democracy. Your analytical, research and writing skills will be a strength.
