About us

Fines and Enforcement Services (FES) is responsible for managing the State's end-to-end Fines system including delivery of the Fines Reform Program. FES is also responsible for managing three State contracts that support the functions of Victoria Police, the Director Fines Victoria and the Sheriff in the State's Fine system, and two of which also deliver and support IT systems. The Fines system comprises complex data domains that are extensively used across FES and by its contractors

About the role

The Data Governance Manager will be responsible for implementing the FES Data Governance Framework and establishing the FES data governance implementation roadmap incorporating strategic priorities that need to be effectively governed in accordance with defined standards and assured through repeatable data governance capabilities and practices.

In this role you will:

  • Provide ownership, leadership and direction in implementing the FES Data Governance Framework
  • Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for ownership and stewardship of the principal information assets
  •  Lead and support executive data sponsorship in FES and through the DJCS Data Governance Authority and Security Management and Assurance unit
  • Define a FES data governance operating model or decision structures to align with DJCS governance architecture

About you

Along with outstanding leadership skills, as our ideal candidate you will have:

  • Proven experience implementing a business wide data governance framework and establishing a data governance implementation roadmap, with a focus on improving data quality and stewardship using tangible success measures
  • Proven experience influencing organisations including governance forums to better manage data and information assets by encouraging a ‘data-driven culture' and having the business adopt data handling practices through improved policies, procedures and, standards
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements, emerging trends and understanding of data architecture and conceptual data model concepts.
