About the role

An exciting opportunity exists to become an Information Technology Trainee within Local Government. As part of the Software Development Team, you will provide assistance with software support requests, carry out software testing and user documentation and be responsible for delivering ongoing application support using relevant industry knowledge to internal departments.

This role is part of the Victorian Apprenticeship Recovery Program, and therefore to be eligible to apply, you must be under 24 years of age, with no prior tertiary qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • To ensure all enquiries and issues are resolved accurately and on time
  • To ensure that the client is kept up to date and informed of progress of issues
  • To manage all asset tagging and all relevant documentation
  • To ensure information is captured accurately and in detail in the ticketing system
  • Provision and prepare new hardware and systems for all clients or internal teams
  • Where issues cannot be resolved that they are escalated as necessary

Education, Training and Experience:

    1. Experience with Microsoft Office products;
    2. Self-motivated with the ability to multitask;
    3. Ability to work well within a team environment;
    4. Proactive problem solving and persistence;
    5. A can-do attitude!

Key selection criteria:

    1. Sound documentation skills;
    2. A willingness to learn and proactive attitude;
    3. Highly developed computer literacy, time management and organisational skills;
    4. Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
    5. Outstanding professionalism, including highly developed customer service skills;
    6. Ability to work as part of a team as well as autonomously as required; and
