We are currently seeking an experienced Health, Safety, and Emergency Response Advisor to join our highly engaged and dynamic team within our Leonora Operations in Western Australia.

Reporting to the Health and Safety Superintendent on-site, you will provide health and safety support to the Superintendent relating to implementation and compliance with the Company’s Health, Safety, Environment and Community Management System (HSEC MS).

You will oversee, advise and influence our contractor supervisors and employees in health and safety compliance procedures, guiding these contractor relationships to comply and adhere to our St Barbara HSE strategies. You will provide a focal point for guiding safety leadership, further enhancing a more positive safety culture in our operations.

This opportunity is a permanent, FIFO role on a balanced 8 days on, 6 days off, roster cycle, flying on company time to and from Perth. You also have the option to DIDO from Kalgoorlie.

The Opportunity

  • Provide support to the Health and Safety Superintendent in the communication and effective operation of the health and safety components of the Company’s Health, Safety and Environment Management System across Leonora Operations.
  • Provide timely and appropriate Emergency Response services to Leonora Operations.
  • Contribute to the collection, storage and interpretation of reliable health and safety data.
  • Contribute to effective internal and external health and safety reporting.
  • Provide health, safety and emergency response related advice to all site personnel. Some situations will require after hours on call work.
  • Assist and manage an effective medical centre providing first aid services as required for the Leonora Operations.
  • Support the Health and Safety Superintendent to improve understanding of health, safety and emergency response requirements across Leonora Operations.
  • Lead site health and safety investigations as and when required.
  • Contribute productively as a member of the Leonora Health, Safety and Environment team.

What we will expect from you

  • You should feel a strong alignment with St Barbara’s values as you will be required to live them.
  • You are able to produce a National Police Clearance (valid within the last 12 months) for site access purposes.
  • You have a current unencumbered ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence.
  • Minimum Certificate IV in Work, Health and Safety.
  • Minimum Cert III Mine Emergency Response, including closed circuit.
  • At least 4 years mining safety experience, with a minimum of 2 years site safety underground experience.
  • Cert IV Training and Assessment.
  • Incident investigation qualification (ICAM, Tap Root or similar).
  • Knowledge of the statutory requirements of the role.
  • Demonstrated high level of computer literacy (MS Office, Pronto, INX, HSE management systems and Chem Alert).
  • Lead Auditor qualification – desirable but not essential.
  • Certificate IV Health Care (Ambulance) – desirable but not essential.
