Primary objective
Provide a high quality ministerial liaison service to the Department of Territory Families, Housing and Communities and its
Ministers and assist in meeting the agency's whole-of-government coordination and reporting obligations.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Assist in the coordination, preparation, quality assurance and processing of agency briefs and correspondence, checking
grammar, spelling, adherence to appropriate standards and formatting requirements.
2. Provide advice and assistance to staff in the preparation of ministerial correspondence and related documents and processes.
3. Provide a high quality, effective and timely liaison service between the Department and the Ministers' offices and other NT
Government agencies and maintain strong working relationships.
4. Coordinate and compose monthly reports to a range of recipients and a wide range of formats i.e. Minister, Cabinet etc.
5. Work with the Manager Ministerial Liaison to identify obstacles in secretariat systems, process and competencies that may
inhibit the agency in achieving its objectives and timelines and develop practical solutions to resolve these issues.
6. Other duties as required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. A sound knowledge of ministerial correspondence and executive government requirements, processes and procedures
within a government setting.
2. A high standard of oral and written communication skills, including good proof-reading skills with speed, accuracy, formatting
and document presentation.
3. Organisational and administrative skills of a high order, with good attention to detail and ability to deal appropriately with
confidential and sensitive issues and documents.
4. Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner in writing and orally, and to provide advice on procedural
matters.
5. Demonstrated ability to be proactive, and to work positively and enthusiastically as part of a small close-knit team.
6. Ability to relate to staff at all levels.
7. A willingness to work extended hours if and when required.
