Primary objective:
Under the direction of the Manager Learning and Development Command (M-LDC) be responsible for the emergency
management training program in the Northern Territory. In particular, assist the Manager with design, development and
implementation of emergency management training and develop, prepare and deliver workshops / exercises and other
educational activities as required.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Co-ordinate, deliver and process emergency management courses and training sessions.
- Develop, prepare and deliver emergency management workshops and exercises
- Assist with the research design and development of emergency management training programs
- Provide continuous improvement and administration of emergency management programs, including eLearning.
- Maintain course and other administrative records for inclusion in training / activity reports.
- Be proficient with all administrative systems and processes associated with records management
- Undertake travel within the Northern Territory, including to remote localities for the delivery of emergency management
- Maintain current competency in emergency management and Vocational Education and Training (VET) practice.
- Undertake incident management duties, as required.
- Represent NTES on National or Territory committees as nominated
Essential:
1. Qualifications in training and assessment, adult education/learning
2. A working knowledge in emergency management and qualifications in Australasian Inter-service Incident Management
System (AIIMS), up to and including AIIMS level 2, or its successor.
3. Demonstrated experience working in an emergency management environment as a function lead officer or support officer.
4. Demonstrated ability to utilise Information Technology (IT), including databases, to facilitate records management and
eLearning.
5. Proven ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
6. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and individually with effective time management skills and ability to
prioritise work in a changing environment to meet deadlines.
7. Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, including the capacity to liaise with a range of stakeholders
8. Current Manual NT Driver’s license or the ability to obtain.
Desirable:
1. Qualifications in emergency management
2. A working knowledge of emergency management arrangements.
