We are seeking suitable qualified Registered Nurses to take up roles at both the North West Regional Hospital and the Mersey Community Hospital on the diallylic North West Coast of Tasmania

The role:

We are seeking motivated and experienced Registered Nurses for the Emergency Department at the North West Regional Hospital and Mersey Community Hospital. We are looking for passionate nurses who deliver the greatest quality of care and will collaborate with members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team. It is expected that within the dynamic multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to a strong professional team approach through open communication and a positive supportive environment.

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, you will contribute to the health outcomes of your patients through excellence in practice, fostering a learning culture, excellent communication skills and working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

The hospitals:

North West Regional Hospital

The ED at the North West Regional Hospital consists of 17 acute clinical spaces with an additional 6 fast track spaces and a 4 bedded EMU. The department has 2 fully equipped Resus bays, a purpose-built mental health assessment area, a negative pressure isolation room as well as 4 negative flow single rooms. The ED is the referral hospital for the North West of Tasmania.

The Emergency Department has an annual attendance rate of approx. 29,000 patients per year. Approximately 30% of these patients are admitted for further treatment and care. The Department treats a broad range of patients including major trauma cases. The ED is supported by a wide range of specialties and generally only refers a small number of patients out of the region.

The ED is accredited by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine for six months advanced training in Emergency Medicine. The ED offers its nursing staff a comprehensive education programme for all levels of emergency nurses supported by a specialised education team.

Mersey Community Hospital

The Emergency Department is open 24/7 with around 29,000 presentations a year. We offer Acute/resuscitation, fast track and Emergency Medical Unit nursing. The department has 2 fully equipped resus bays, 6 acute bays and 7 bedded EMU.

Supported by Nurse Practitioners, training and development in Emergency Nursing advanced practice skills is offered to increase your scope of practice.

Details of Appointment:

Multiple Permanent and Fixed Term roles are available working as shift workers up to 76 hours per fortnight.

Salary: $66,421 - $91,807 per annum + 9.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging

    • Access to the Grade 4 salary range $85,950 - $91,807 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
    • Applicants should note that, for a period of six months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

    • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
