About us

COVID-19 Quarantine Victoria (CQV) is responsible for Victoria's COVID-19 Accommodation response, including:

  • Mandatory quarantine for returned overseas travellers
  • Emergency Accommodation for people that cannot safely isolate/quarantine in their accommodation.

The Victorian Chief Health Officer has mandated that all returning overseas travellers arriving in Victoria must go into mandatory quarantine for 14 days from the day of their arrival to help prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

In addition, CQV is responsible for the operation of Victoria's Emergency Accommodation program for community members and their close contacts who have tested positive for COVID-19 and where an assessment has concluded that there are no other suitable alternative accommodation options for self-isolation.

Infection control and prevention is the primary objective of the mandatory quarantine and emergency accommodation programs.

About the role

Play a critical role as a Lead, Emergency Management developing and implementing the emergency management framework for the Hotel Services, Frontline Worker Accommodation and Community Accommodation programs, ensuring a safe environment for returning travellers and individuals within the community undertaking quarantine.

You will build relationships across teams and sites while being involved in the development of hotel emergency and evacuation plans and procedure. Once established, transition to focus on management and support.

This role will ideally suit a confident professional who embraces a service mindset, provides support to different stakeholders and has solid stakeholder engagement and management skills.

Your strong analytical mindset, critical thinking and problem-solving skills will drive you to manage high-level complex and sensitive information and issues. If you are passionate about developing strategic and operational programs, plans and insights, please apply.

The role will also include:

  • Provide support to the Assistant Manager, Emergency Management, by contributing to reports, submissions and briefings on complicated operational concerns affecting the management of accommodation sites.
  • Work with the successful implementation of the emergency management policies and plans across accommodation sites.
  • Support the emergency management framework learning and training strategy for accommodation sites.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have: 

  • Demonstrated experience in a dynamic environment and organised to work effectively, responding to changes, implementing responses, and providing analyses and suggesting improvements to support decision making. 
  • Experience in an emergency management environment is highly desirable.
  • Understanding the organisation's structure, responsibilities, climate, and culture, including the issues and pressures to which the organisation has to respond.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience working to meet tight deadlines, achieve targets and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to operate well at both a strategic and operational level
