JOB DESCRIPTION

The Night Supervisor is a role within the Kurlana Tapa Youth Justice Centre (KTYJC) and is accountable to the Manager, Security Services for: Maintaining an appropriate level of security in a custodial environment; allocating and controlling night shift staffing resources across the KTYJC to maintain the timely and efficient supervision of residents and providing appropriate intervention, support, and management in emergency situations; monitor all buildings, equipment, and perimeters for safety in accordance with standards and prescribed manufacturer’s instructions and supervise the operational control of crises and emergency incidents.

Special Conditions: Successful applicant will be required to hold a National Police Check (NPC) and satisfactorily complete an Employment-related Screening Check where this is required for the role, prior to being employed. Must undergo Psychometric testing prior to being employed. Must hold a current Australian issued Driver’s Licence (equivalent to minimum class ‘C’ – South Australian), which must be maintained. Incumbent must be willing and able to drive all government vehicles within their licence classification during their duties. Hold a current First Aid Certificate. Demonstrated physical health, fitness, and capability to manage residents in a crisis situation. This role is night shift only and appropriate penalties will apply.

Screening

Consideration for an offer of employment in the South Australian Public Sector is in part dependent upon a National Police Check, also known as a National Police Certificate.

If you are new to the department and are invited to an interview, you will be required to produce a National Police Check, which has been issued within six months of your application for the role. National Police Checks can be applied for via the South Australia Police or through an Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission accredited body .

If the role you are applying for also requires an Employment-related Screening Check, you will be required to undergo such assessment as is advised by DHS, including periodic assessment during your employment.

Cover Letter and Resume

You are required to submit a cover letter which should be no longer than 2 pages addressing how your skills, attributes, experience and capabilities align with the role description. You are also required to provide three work referees, preferably being your two most recent line managers and attach your current resume via the online application form.
