About the Role
This is an exciting new administrator role that sits within the Office of the Chief Executive and reports directly to our Manager, Governance who is responsible for Governance, the Mayor and Councillor Support Unit and the Internal Ombudsman function. Consequently, this role requires the highest level of discretion and confidentiality as you will be involved in the preparation of documents for Council, the Executive and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. As a Senior Administration Officer, you will be a highly competent administrator who is expert at coordinating meetings, events and development programs, along with the efficient management of emails and calendars. This role requires proven positive and professional stakeholder management and exceptional organisational skills.

Key responsibilities include

  • Provide administrative support to the Manager, Governance and assist in the performance of the functional duties and responsibilities of the unit.
  • Ensure a broad range of effective administration services are provided to support the Governance team. These shall include the control and distribution of correspondence, report preparation, meeting and event facilitation and diary management.
  • Build positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Adhere to all Council policies and procedures relevant to this position.

About you  
To be successful in this role, you will have extensive experience as an exceptional administrator, including the following:

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar position within either a government agency or similarly functioning organisation.
  • Highly developed organisational and time management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks while working professionally and with high attention to detail.
  • Strong IT capability with advanced skills in MS Office suite and a proven ability to utilise systems and software.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills including ability to proofread and edit for plain English skills.
  • A demonstrated commitment to customer service in ensuring all enquiries are serviced and resolved in a timely manner.
