Job Description

We have an opportunity for a PC&P Specialist Governance & Risk to support Project Contracts & Procurement (PC&P). The purpose of this role is to provide support to the PC&P Superintendent Governance & Risk to ensure a consistent and effective positive assurance framework is established to meet PC&P internal and external obligations.

About The Role

You will be working closely with the PC&P stakeholders communicating priorities to key stakeholders, highlighting areas for governance improvements whilst working together to implement best practice. Reporting to the PC&P Superintendent Governance & Risk, the specialist role will be accountable for:

  • Providing assurance capability to support the operations to meet internal and external standards;
  • Execute balanced deep dive assurance reviews across procurement and contracts executed within the company’s global capital projects portfolio;
  • Analysing and collating the deep dive outcomes into detailed reports, to tight deadlines;
  • Working collaboratively with PC&P stakeholders to deliver frontline support through the execution of the positive assurance framework, that is underpinned by a governance framework;
  • Building and maintaining close working relationships across the team to ensure effective application of the frameworks;
  • Applying lean manufacturing processes and techniques to drive continuous improvement;


You will assist with fostering a positive team culture; leading by example and ensuring that there is a culture of teamwork and cooperation between PC&P team members and also between the PC&P team, and the broader Procurement and Project teams on Governance & Risk;

You will be required to capture and share learnings and opportunities across PC&P teams that service the project community delivering to the various BHP assets.

About You
  • You will be self-motivated, enquiring and able to work independently;
  • Able to work under pressure, apply a very high attention to detail and consistently meet deadlines;
  • A strong background in assurance, risk management and / or project management background are important for the position;
  • A proven ability to build, grow and manage relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders is essential;
  • You will demonstrate strong leadership, coaching and mentoring capability, a commercial outlook and exemplary judgement (balance business value vs. risk) to deliver best outcomes;
  • You will be a self-starter, detail oriented, organised and objective, with advanced communication skills that can influence a diverse stakeholder group (frontline to executive);
  • You will have a collaborative mind-set and advanced interpersonal skills to develop constructive long-term relationships, and have a proven ability to operate effectively in complex and ambiguous environments;
  • You will also ideally hold tertiary qualifications in either Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Law or Commerce.
