Applications are invited from persons suitably skilled to fill the above vacancy in the Parliamentary Parties Support branch based in Parliament House of Western Australia, West Perth.

Job Description

The Electorate Executive Officer provides administrative support to the Secretary of the Parliamentary National Party (WA) and to the National Party (WA) Members of Parliament.

Key duties include:

  • Provides the initial point of contact for all enquires to the Parliamentary Party.
  • Coordinates briefings and meetings requested by the Parliamentary Party.
  • Prepares the agenda and takes minutes at Parliamentary Party meetings.
  • Prepares financial statements and accounts for the Parliamentary Secretary.
  • Liaises with Parliamentary Party Members.
  • Liaises with Parliamentary Party Electorate and Research Officers.
  • Liaises with Ministers, Members of Parliament, Parliament House staff, government agencies and private organisations.
  • Develops and maintains records system for correspondence and documentation.
  • Manages and coordinates bookings for the Parliamentary Party meeting room.
  • Co-ordinates office administration for the Parliamentary Party.
  • Administration of the Parliamentary Party bank account including payment of invoices and the preparation of quarterly BAS returns.
  • Co-ordinates functions /events hosted by the Parliamentary Party.

Selection Criteria
  • Experience in office administration and executive support
  • Interpersonal skills with special emphasis on dealing with matters of a confidential nature.
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise initiative.
  • Highly organised and the ability to work to deadlines.

Desirable
  • Knowledge of Government and Parliamentary procedures.
  • Knowledge of issues pertaining to regional/local Western Australia
  • Skills in Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

Conditions

This position is full time and is for appointment to the Term of the Member subject to a probationary period of three (3) months.
