Traffic Engineer - 5 month temp - Large Central Sydney Council - Government transport agency experience essential

Allstaff Australia is currently looking for an experienced Traffic Engineer to join a Large Central Sydney Government Organisation for a 5 month engagement.

Position Description:

To manage the end to end process of reallocation of road space for outdoor dining, including assessing the suitability of applications and effectively resolving known traffic, parking and road safety issues in a timely and professional manner, and obtaining the necessary approvals from internal and external stakeholders.

Working closely with the infrastructure project manager and collaboratively with the City Access and business engagement teams to apply a streamlined assessment process and create accurately and up to date records and information on TRIM suitable for use by the infrastructure supplier (barriers and accessibility ramps, where needed).

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience in local government or state government transport agencies.
  • Tertiary qualifications in traffic engineering, transport planning and/or a related field.
  • At least five years’ work experience in the fields of traffic engineering, transport planning, project management and/or road safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex traffic and transport-related problems, negotiate viable options with key stakeholders and implement preferred solutions.
  • Superior time management skills with the ability to work on a range of tasks concurrently, in a professional manner and be accountable for the overall outcome.
  • Proven ability to prepare well-argued technically concise reports, letters and e-mails on various transport-related issues.
  • Experience in leading multiple stakeholders in the delivery of high-quality transport-related infrastructure within time and budgetary constraints.
  • Ability to present transport solutions in a clear and professional manner at technical committees, workshops and community forums and effectively negotiate positive outcomes.
