About The Job
  • The surgical service will expect you to be involved in surgical workup and prep, assisting in theatre, writing case notes and communicating with clients and referring vets. This will be done under the guidance and supervision of our specialist surgeons.
  • You will be responsible for providing continuity of care for surgical cases. This is a great opportunity to see how common and uncommon surgical patients clinically behave over time.
  • You will need to be involved in keeping clients informed and happy – providing advice, answering questions and soothing their fears is a big part of the job;
  • We will guide you in running a small research project that we will expect you to present at a conference or journal club. You will also prepare nurse training presentations and a presentation to other staff vets on a set topic.
  • We will provide mentorship and support in attaining your ANZCVS memberships in Surgery.
  • Hours will involve weekdays, some nights and weekends.
  • The internship will be 12 months in length.
About SVES
  • We have 3 surgical theatres including a dedicated soft tissue and orthopaedic theatre.

We have ready access to MRI.
  • We love clients as much as we love their pets – you'll need a big heart to work here!
  • We are professional – we hold ourselves to high standards and you should too.
  • We believe in a work/life balance; we like our staff to work hard, then have time off to live their lives outside work.
We are committed to getting the right person for the job. There are a few steps to go through to ensure that both you as the candidate and us as the employer know exactly what is on offer.
