About the branch

The People, Safety & Risk division provides advice and support for legal, human resources, health & safety, statutory compliance, governance, information management, audit and risk functions for Parks Victoria. The division provides the tools and frameworks to ensure efficient and effective governance processes, including risk and information management frameworks that can assist management to make informed decisions within an acceptable risk profile. 

About the role and your responsibilities:

The Senior Governance Officer - Assurance is responsible for working in collaboration with the other teams within the Division to integrate the risk, compliance and assurance programs to assist Parks Victoria meet its strategic objectives. You will be developing an assurance framework and program of audit and business review activities, including continuous controls auditing and control self-assessments that operate in a coordinated and complementary manner.

In this role, you will also coordinate the rolling internal audit program, including management of outsourced internal audit service providers, contributing to the design of a 3-year internal audit program and manage the closure of actions arising from all audit and significant reviews. In addition, you will be coordinating and responding to audits undertaken by external audits including performance audits undertaken by the Victorian Auditor-General's Office or other oversight bodies.

To be successful for this role you will need:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Accounting or equivalent is essential.
  • Extensive experience delivering internal audit and other assurance related programs.
  • Experience in application of fraud control, risk management and/or quality management systems.
  • A current employee Working with Children Check
