Primary objective:
Provide high level advice, support and coordination to ensure the effective operation and delivery of the division’s strategic

objectives and priorities. The position provides strategic advice, leadership and direction to the administration team

ensuring sound governance in the administration of mine security funds.

Key duties and responsibilities:
1. Oversight and development of governance arrangements across the Mines Division, and to coordinate the

development of division-level policy.

2. Provide strategic advice and support to the Executive Director to inform decision making related to the delivery of the

Department and Ministers' priority projects.

3. Provide leadership to the administration team, and administrative oversight and governance of mine security bonds

and legacy levies.

4. Ensure compliance with Government protocols, administrative, legislative and record management requirements.

5. Coordinate whole-of-Division responses to external requests regarding complex issues facing the Department.

6. Develop and maintain effective collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders at all levels, in

government and non-government sectors and relevant national bodies.

7. Provide guidance with the development, implementation and evaluation of NT Government priorities.

Selection criteria:
Essential:
1. Extensive knowledge of corporate governance and their practical application in a public sector environment

2. Highly developed strategic, conceptual and analytical skills, including proven ability to understand political, social and

organisational contexts to assist with aligning agency operational activities to strategic objectives.

3. Demonstrated experience that enable effective relationships across a diverse range of internal and external

stakeholders.

4. Extensive knowledge of financial cycles and government administrative, ministerial, Cabinet and legislative processes.

5. Sound knowledge of the financial and procurement legislation and accounting methodologies that impact on the public

sector accounting, procurement and financial procedures.

6. Well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate policy, influence

and negotiate successful outcomes where there are conflicting interests.

7. Demonstrated ability to achieve results, apply sound judgement to decision making and ability to hold confidential

information.

Desirable:
1. Tertiary qualifications in Business Management, Public Policy, Public Sector or similar related discipline such as

Business or Law.

2. Understanding of Agency roles and services in implementing NT Government policy and priorities.
