About the Role


Based in our iconic offices on the Swan River, this role sits within our Central Operations team, delivering functional expertise as part of a joint team where business and philanthropy intersect. Reporting to the Director of External Affairs and Communications the government relations manager will provide expert advice and advocacy to the leadership of Tattarang and Minderoo on their relationship with the Government of Western Australia, its various departments, local government, industry and business, community groups and other stakeholders.

Your key responsibilities will include:


  • Provide expert advice and advocacy to the leadership of Tattarang and Minderoo on their relationship with the Government of Western Australia, its various departments, local government, industry and business, community groups, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide advice on highly complex issues impacting the commercial and philanthropic work of Tattarang and Minderoo.
  • Lead and manage the development and implementation of a range of strategies, programs, and policy proposals for engagement with key ministers, ministerial advisers, shadow ministers, departmental officials at state and local government levels.
  • Lead and manage the planning and implementation of meetings and events involving Ministers, Shadow Ministers, MPs, senior state government, and local government officials.
  • Build and sustain strategic professional networks and high-level relationships with an extensive network of Government Ministers and MPs, relevant key ministerial advisers, Shadow Ministers, and MPs, to ensure strong relationships and efficient access to key politicians and officials.
  • Undertake research and prepare briefing papers, responses to changes in relevant government policies, legislation, and regulation, as well as preparing talking points, backgrounders, speech information, and order of proceedings for the senior management for key government internal and external engagements.

About You


To be successful in this role you must have significant years of relevant experience working in political office as an elected official or advisor in a government department, political consultancy, or in political journalism. 

Experience working as a Government relations advisor in the corporate sector.

Proven ability to write clear, comprehensive, compelling submissions, strategy and briefing papers, reports, and presentations.
