Digital Communications Officer required to provide creative design & written solutions across a wide variety of projects & working across all mediums

Your new role:

Our client, a local government body, is currently seeking an experienced Digital Communications Officer for a permanent position within their Media and Communications department. As the Digital Communications Officer, you will provide support and operational assistance to both the media and communications and wider teams in preparing creative graphic designs and materials, including charts, diagrams, infographics, videos and animations, and written communications, including media and community news updates

Key responsibilities of the role:

Reporting directly to the Media and Communications Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Create engaging content via various media (including graphic, video, motion graphics and editing etc.);
  • Maintain and monitor online media, the website and social media platforms to ensure they meet the needs of the organisation;
  • Develop, drive and report on social media activity across multiple brands and platforms;
  • Draft media releases and notices to update community on relevant business information;
  • Provide input into drafting strategic documents (content and layout);
  • Assist with development and maintenance of style guide; and
  • Provide ongoing administrative support and assistance for media and communications team and contribute to consistent and clear branding and messaging across the organisation.

What you'll need to succeed:

Attributes and skills required to be successful in this role include:

  • Previous experience in a digital communication, digital media roles or similar;
  • Proficiency in:
    • Adobe Creative Suite experience using Photoshop, InDesign;
    • Video creation software, website administration;
  • Advanced copywriting and broader digital media communication skills;
  • Detail orientated with an outgoing and analytical approach; and
  • Self-starter and highly motivated, create and manage own workload.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (graphic design, public relations, media, communications, multimedia, etc);
