What you'll be doing
  • To provide supervision and management of the ED administrative staff.
  • To manage the day to day issues of the ED administration team.
  • To provide rosters, process HealthRoster and manage the performance of the ED administration team.
  • To report any issues regarding administrative services in ED to the NUM.
  • To provide and promote accurate 24 hour registration, admission and clinical data collection of all patients, utilizing Firstnet.
  • Ensure the data integrity and compliance of FirstNet, and the production of time critical reports to relevant stakeholders for performance monitoring, planning and quality improvement projects.
  • To ensure revenue from admissions is captured in the Emergency Department.
  • Develop and maintain a rotating, 24 hour, 7 day roster to ensure adequate coverage of all shifts;
  • Ensure planned and unplanned leave is covered;
  • Enter rosters into HealthRoster system for payroll sign off processing;
  • Oversee the daily work performance of the ED administrative team members;
  • Conduct quality management and performance management programs within ED;
  • Conduct annual Performance Agreements and Reviews with all staff;
  • Ensure all ED administrative staff are up to date with Mandatory Training requirements at all times;
  • Supervise the administrative operations of ED, including staff, policy, procedures and workflow;
  • Assist the NUM to develop, implement, document and revise any relevant policies and procedures affecting the ED Department’s overall functions;
  • Liaise with other departments, management, supervisors and staff on matters relating to the policy operations of ED;
  • Review work practices and implement new systems which make may make processes more efficient in relation to ED.

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated high level of administrative skills whilst working within a health industry multidisciplinary team.
  • Proven experience or ability to use internal NSW Health computer programs relating to patient services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising other administrative staff, including pro-active rostering to ensure all services are covered during leave periods.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage competing demands to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to liaise effectively and professionally with an empathetic approach to patients and staff.
