The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) is a member of the University's Senior Executive and has responsibility for enhancing the University's performance and reputation in research, research training, and research collaboration with external stakeholders, nationally and internationally. This includes the strategic management of research at an institutional level; development of research policy; management of research strategic initiatives, and development of research collaborations in Australia and overseas. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) also interacts closely with Executive Deans and Institute Directors who have operational responsibility for research development within the University's Faculties and Institutes respectively, and chairs the University Research Committee, a committee of the Academic Board that promotes and supports research and research training within the University.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) is supported by the staff in the UQ Research and Innovation portfolio. Units within the portfolio have responsibility to support the University's research community through strategic engagement with external stakeholders, funding organisations and research partners; international collaborations; grants management; research performance data management; research higher degree management; and research ethics and integrity.

About This Opportunity

The Queensland Defence Science Alliance (QDSA) is a newly formed state-based gateway organisation to support connections and collaborations between universities, defence industry and government to grow and integrate Queensland’s capacity and capabilities to deliver against the Commonwealth defence objectives and strategy.

The Queensland Defence Science Alliance Manager is primarily responsible for the day to day operational management of the alliance and aiding in the delivery of the strategic goals for the alliance. This includes responsibilities for long-term operational planning, strategic budget management, coordination of the professional support services, risk management processes, information technology / systems and facilities. The individual will strive to achieve the strategic objectives of the Alliance and to ensure the provision of high level client service to stakeholders.

Reporting to the QDSA Director, this position operates as a key interface with both internal and external stakeholders to the Alliance and collaborates with these parties to achieve successful outcomes and leading practice. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, the position will develop informed and innovative strategies and programs to ensure a high level of return on investment.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, 2 year fixed term position at HEW level 8.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $100,264 - $112,583, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $117,309 - $131,722.

The position is primarily based at Griffith University, Southbank Campus however given the nature of the Alliance there may be a requirement to work at other locations.
