About our opportunity:

We have a new opportunity for a Procurement Manager to work across a range of projects with our various Defence clients. You will be providing project management, encompassing contract management, budgeting and Government procurement. Possessing excellent stakeholder management skills and being confident in engaging with Industry counterparts, in the delivery of their Project, will be your keys to success.

A Consultant for Nova provides advice and technical solutions to clients, generally in a project setting - solving their complex challenges. As our client's needs are ever evolving, you can expect variety and diversity in the support you provide.

You could expect that no day, client or project is the same. A consultant's duties are often changing based on the project (or multiple projects) requirements, the needs of the client, or the business tasks available.

This means that whilst you may be engaged for a primary skill set initially, consultants need to be flexible enough to meet changing client requirements. In effect the work we perform varies and provides a level of diversity to our people.

You will typically provide support in the following areas;

  • Billable work supporting clients;
  • Non-Billable work supporting other areas of the Nova Group;
  • Providing support at times outside your core skill area;
  • Stakeholder engagement and management;
  • Business Development and Bid Writing.

What will you be involved in:

  • Manage a range of project activities and coordinate project inputs in accordance with CASG Acquisition practices, methods and standards;
  • Individually responsible for the management of schedule, risk, budget and resources, preparation of briefings, submissions, reports and returns relating to the project progress and issues in accordance with CASG requirements;
  • Working with the Risk Manager, identify risks and opportunities and take account of these in planning, decision making and priority setting;
  • Build and sustain stakeholder engagement including the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with influence and negotiate effectively;
  • Work collaboratively by building effective relationships with team members;
  • Provide input into the development of project planning, performance, cost and schedule documents and work breakdown structures in accordance with agreed procedures and performance standards;
  • Prepare correspondence, briefs and reports as directed by the GFE Manager including submissions and documents for higher delegate and committee consideration;
  • Provide ad hoc Project Support to the Deputy Project Manager as required.

What we would like from you:

  • A tertiary qualification in Project Management or equivalent recognised certification;
  • Australian Citizen with a NV1 AGSVA Security Clearance;
  • At least 8 years of industry experience in this field;
  • Working knowledge of the ASDEFCON procurement suite;
  • Demonstrable contract management experience;
  • Demonstrable financial management and budgeting experience;
  • Prior experience in stakeholder management and industry engagement;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Be a proactive self-starter;
  • Must be able to have access to ITAR sensitive information;
  • Knowledge of working with US export controls (desirable);
  • Knowledge of ICT and / or military communication equipment (desirable).
