The Role:

We are seeking enthusiastic Emergency Medicine Consultants to join a supportive/friendly team of clinicians, this is a wonderful opportunity to be part of diverse, multi discipline team providing Health Care in a rural and remote region.

You will be expected to provide emergency care to patients in the Hospital's Emergency Department; a well-equipped rural ED accredited with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) for training in Emergency Medicine.

You will also provide professional leadership to medical staff within the department and be actively involved in further education and training programs, in collaboration with ACEM, for the workforce.

This is a purpose built, 13 bed ED, and 3 bed short stay sees 29,000 patients a year, 25% of whom are paediatric, and 40% of whom are indigenous. The patients come from remote communities, both in Queensland and the Northern Territory, mine sites as well as those living in the town and local communities.

With 30,000 presentations per annum, a registrar will be exposed to all aspects of emergency care including all kind of minor and major trauma, Paediatric, Indigenous Health, and more.

Flexible rosters/hours can be negotiated providing for flexible full-time or part-time, position sharing, and fly-in/fly-out options.

Competitive salary includes rural/remote allowance and salary loadings including an Emergency Department allowance.

Base salary range (L13-L27)

5 weeks Annual Recreational Leave accumulation with additional 17.5% loading when taken

Generous employer contribution to superannuation of 12.75%

Attraction and retention incentive allowance of 50% base annual salary

Regional and rural attraction allowance of 15% base annual salary

Motor vehicle allowance

Professional development allowance and leave of 3.6 weeks p.a.

Inaccessibility allowance of $34,500 p.a.

Emergency Department specialist allowance (dependent upon level of appointment) of 25% base annual salary

Salary package: $458,821 - $517,901

The Hospital:

The Hospital and Health Service covers an area of over 300,000 square kilometres, it has developed into the major referral hospital for the region, with smaller satellite hospitals. It has general medicine, general surgery, paediatrics, O&G, mental health, and palliative care units.

MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).

Possession of accredited / advanced skills in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, O&G, Remote Medicine or A&TSI Health.
