Opportunity 1 - Global Defence, Security and Traffic Management Solution Provider

About these vacancies:

We are looking for 5+ Mid to Senior Software Engineers who are keen to consider long-term hourly rate contract roles based in Adelaide or permanent employment. The successful candidates will be given an opportunity to work on exciting defence projects for an innovative prime who is Adelaide's fastest growing defence partner.

Given the nature of the industry, Defence Clearance is needed for this role, and candidates must be willing to work and live in Adelaide. The roles require NV1 clearance, but we will also consider Baseline cleared resources willing to be sponsored to NV1.

To be considered in this role, you must meet the following:

  • Tertiary degree qualified in Computer Science or similar discipline
  • Demonstrated programming and development skills in Ada, Java or C++
  • Development experience in other technologies such as C#, Bash, Python and Go is advantageous but not mandatory. Those that come from these backgrounds and can show the ability to learn quickly will be considered, as a training program is initially on the client's product.
  • Experience working in the defence space or other large enterprise environment would be advantageous such as banking, medical or utilities.
  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Opportunity 2 - A Global security and aerospace company who undertakes research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced technology system, products and services

About these roles:

6-8 x permanent roles on an exciting greenfields program working for a global prime. This will give the successful applicants an opportunity to work on some cutting-edge US technology that's never been developed in Australia.

Our client is currently working directly for the Australian Defence Force and has experienced a sharp increase in the last 10 years for a distributed simulator to support collective training for combined, joint and coalition forces. This long-term program will address the need by providing simulation-as-a-service capabilities on top of exciting customer cloud infrastructure.

This solution will leverage the existing customer infrastructure to develop, and subsequently host, a SeCT-IMS to create and run simulation events from a centralised location for collaboration across widespread participation of entities and forces.

This work will extensively utilise tool suites and simulation capability knowledge from our clients US product range and team, extending fielded products into the Australian environment. A US/AU workshare will be collaboratively managed.

Working as an integral member of the team, the primary responsibility of the Software Engineers is to integrate and test software deliverables from the supporting component teams from Gateways, Database, Repositories and SECT-IMS to ensure all technical and quality requirements are met.

Later in the program you will work closely with the US Team and customers in Australia to resolve product integration issues and patch all deliverable software elements.

What we want:

  • 3+ years' experience working a Software Engineer or Integration Engineer in the Australian Defence Industry utilising C++ or Java development languages
  • Agile software development experience ideally utilising: Docker, Kubernetes, JIRA
  • NV1 clearance is ideally a minimum, but consideration may be made for those holding a Baseline clearance and have the suitable skillsets requested
  • An interest to join a growing team (currently 19) that will grow to 30+ this year, therefore providing an opportunity to mentor junior staff
  • Great communication and team work skills to help deliver one of Adelaide's most exciting defence programs
